39 years’ practical experience in the field of Occupational Health and Safety and gained some experience in the Environmental field as well. The range of knowledge comes from working in the HSE discipline from the Petrochemical Industry, Demolition Industry and the Mining Industry, both opencast and underground, in South Africa.

I have a strong ability to work at a strategic level in determining current and future needs for safety and health legal as well as best practice requirements. This skill and knowledge has been gained through having had the privilege to work for organizations that have a strong international focus in their business such as Shell, BHPBilliton, Lonmin, Anglo American and most recently Harmony Gold.

2018

Leading the Second Level Assurance Team and Learning from Incidents Investigations process at Harmony Gold.

2015

Achieving 2 Million Fatality Free Shifts. A first for Moab Khotsong mine.

2014

A full calendar year without a fatality. A first time achievement in the history of Moab Khotsong Mine since going into full production.

2013

Re-established the functioning of the North West Klerksdorp Region of the Tri-partite forum.

2011

Founding member of the Tri-partite forum for the Northern Cape under the auspices of the Northern Cape Mine Managers Association.

2010

Sishen Mine achieved 5.4 Million Fatality Free Shifts.

2010

Introduced the Principal Hazard Management concept into Sishen Mine.

2009

Sishen Mine achieved its lowest ever Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate of 0.09.

2009

Introduced the ICAM methodology for accident investigations at Sishen Mine.

2008

Member of the MOSH adoption committee representing DeBeers Consolidated Mines.

2008

Set auditing protocol for the Fatal Risk Guidelines at DeBeers.

2007

Introduced the ICAM methodology at Lonmin by training over 200 supervisors.

1998

President of the Institute of Safety Management (until 2000).

1996

First jointly signed health and safety agreement for Ingwe Coal Corporation (BHPBilliton).
